The Austin Cajun Aces play Cajun dancehall music specializing in waltzes, one-steps, and two steps and they are proof that genuine and authentic Cajun music exist outside of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. In their music you are reminded of the tough life of the famrs and bayous yet you get the upbeat and happy sound that represents The Joy of Life----Les Joire de Vivre.
Being a Beaumont Texas native with family roots in Church Point Louisiana, Charles grew up in a Cajun French speaking household. He often visited the Cajun dance halls in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana while growing up. Once he moved to Austin Texas, he became lonesome for his culture and music and formed a Cajun band in 2004.
The band consist of Charles on accordion and vocals, Peter Schwarz who studied under famed Cajun fiddler Dewey Balfa, and also played with Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys for years, on fiddle and vocals, Steve Doerr on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Dale Dougay formerly of the Louisiana Kingfish band and the Chris Miller band, on drums.
The Cajun Aces play throughout Texas for private parties, crawfish boils, special events including the Cajun French Music events, and they also play regular weekly gigs in Austin. In 2008 the band was invited to play the Smithsonian International Fesitval in Washington DC representing Cajun’s from Texas. The band recorded their first CD “Hommage a Andrew Cormier” and it was released in 2008.
You will feel the raw energy reminiscent of the Cajun dancehalls and you are sure to have a great time listening and dancing to the vibrant music of the Austin Cajun Aces!
