Folklore y Ritmos de Panama
Folklore y Ritmos de Panama en Austin was founded in 2001 to pay tribute to the rich and diverse cultures of the isthmus. The dance ensemble strives to wear authentic costumes corresponding to the different regions represented in the various dances it performs. The woman's dress, known as the pollera, is a hand-crafted work of art representing the native flora. The tembleques, typically of pearls or fish scales, together with a set of gold hair combs complete the headdress.
