TRENCHTOWN TEXANS

This band came out of the creation of Ryan Scroggins (keyboardist for Los Skarnales) and Beans (drummer for Los Skarnales), originally just a side project musical outlet, but once the band Los Skarnales officially parted with the current line-up, Ryan took the band full on to cover some already booked Los Skarnales shows and tours.  With more than enthusiastic responses from the 3 Floors Of Ska LA show and other gigs along the way, the band has gone full time on this effort, and thank you for that!.  Do not expect anything here like Los Skarnales, where as there are no Hispanic elements to be heard, this is all new style and sound from the band out of Houston, TX.  The energy level is still there as is the musicianship, but the sound is very different and very fresh. After listening to the test press in its entirety, I felt like I just walked out of a cold dark foggy New Orleans bar, where some crazy mixture of traditional Jamaican ska, a Sergio Leone soundtrack and a bottle of whiskey were all thrown together into one incredible score to my nightly trip to the club. The album contains atmosphere, which a lot of records these days don't. Most albums seem to be a string of individual songs that have nothing in common with the following or preceding tune. Although the album was done rather quickly, a lot of thought was put into the "feel" of the record. I think this record is going to please any fan of the current "rocksteady" revival trend that seems to be sweeping the ska scene. The more gritty ska sound, a bit more rough and tough. It's hot in Houston, and so is this record! -Jeremy Patton/Megalith Records.

Ryan Scroggins and the Trenchtown Texans is a mix of ska, reggae, country, folk, jazz, world music type stuff. We've had this band together playing officially since The first 3 floors of ska in LA. I couldn't do this without my closest and dearest friends, my band mates. We've been together a fairly short time, but good things are happening every day. We've already been lucky enough to share the stage with great acts such as: The Skatalites, Toots and the Maytals, The Aggrolites and many more to come. I'm still keeping this as my personal page too. As far as myself, when I'm not working at the tattoo shop (AMAZING TATTOO) or playing music, I like to spend most of my time with my beautiful girlfriend Ashley. She's my guiding light and inspiration away from evil. I am very big into herpetology, mainly amphibians. We are animal lovers. I also like to paint water color traditional American tattoo stuff, read biology books, Build terrariums, volunteer at the zoo, go to the museums and just generally chill with my close friends when I get some free time. - Ryan Scroggins
