SAMARABALOUF

Under the artistic directorship of François Petit, SAMARABALOUF is a delightfully crazy string trio nurtured on the music by world famous gypsy jazz star Django Reinhardt.

François specializes in the Selmer-type acoustic guitar from which he composes all the instrumental pieces for the group’s repertoire. Accompanied by a rhythmic guitar, played by Pierre Margerin, a double bass played by Luc Ambry and working with Django’s music tones and rhythms, Francois has developed a repertoire of works stretching from the Boogie-Blues to Flamenco Rock, integrating popular themes such as the Waltz, Tango, Rumba and the Slow. SAMARABALOUF is definitively a high celebration of history and life…

Only 6 years old with 4 CD’s and already a popular success in Europe and Canada, the trio made their US debut at Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette, LA in 2004 and have since then crisscrossed North America from Alaska to New Brunswick via the West Coast, the Mid West and New York, performing in cultural centers, jazz and music festivals, churches and synagogues, smoky cellars and on university campuses. .

"Samarabalouf is definitively an exception…they are a very engaging group who make an immediate connection with the audience, no matter what language the listener speaks. I highly recommend this group for any indoor venue, theater, club as well as outdoor music festivals. This group is of an extremely high caliber. "
Lisa Stafford, Festival International de Louisiane, Lafayette, LA (2004)
