Bio

Los Guerreros de la Musica (LGM) is home-grown right here in Houston, Texas.  In just a short amount of time, LGM has already made a significant impact on the Houston Latino music scene with its unique blend of Spanish Rock, Cumbia, Jazz, Ballad, Reggae, Funk, Tropical, New Orleans second line and improv.  This interesting fusion has a little something for everyone—especially those who like to dance.

“It is difficult to explain our style because we are constantly evolving musically.  Every day is a new one.  We don’t want to put limits on ourselves by categorizing LGM.  We play what makes us feel good inside.  If the people like it, then it’s just a bonus,” founding member and percussionist Stephen Araujo explains.

The people definitely like it. LGM won the Gorilla Productions’ Battle of the Bands in September of 2010, a contest based on ticket sales and crowd response. Houston has definitely taken notice of LGM, who has also performed at local events such as the 3rd Annual East End Arts Fest and MECA’s Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Just like its music, LGM is a unique blend of talented musicians.  Founding member Jesus “Guero” Romero provides lead vocals and the sexy sounds of his trumpet.  Backing him up on the vocals and burning up the guitar strings are brothers Lorenzo Antonio Guerrero (acoustic) and Alex Guerrero (bass).  Derek Tyler, the bands newest member, rips it on lead guitar. Providing the pulse of the band is founding member and drummer extraordinaire Stephen Araujo.  Jose ‘Chapy’ Luna rounds out the sound with the hypnotizing beat of his congas.

LGM’s debut album, El Mundo Entero, is set to be released in May 2011.
